The ݮƵ, in a bid to strengthen its connection with the industry as well as to improve its academic teachings to the Iskolar ng Bayan, inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with accounting firm KPMG R.G Manabat & Co (KPMG RGM & Co.)
In a signing ceremony held at the Mateo Conference Hall on February 17, the parties agreed to work together to achieve the “KPMG PH Industry to Classroom Learning Link” where they will share resources to both students and faculty in helping them “develop their knowledge, skills and acumen in the fields of business and accounting through theoretical and practical learnings.”
The KPMG RGM & Co., under the signed MOU, will hold projects such as scholarships for CAF students and lectures on Accounting and Auditing including those relating to Specialized Industries and other special topics for ݮƵstudents. Sessions for the professors, faculty immersion Program in accountancy, audit and other topics such as Governance, ESG, Cybersecurity, etc. are also part of the project. Other initiatives include Academic and Leadership Awards to graduating students, sponsoring the refurbishment of a multi-purpose room in CAF, and becoming an industry partner as part of the Government, Industry and Academe (GIA) Board for curriculum and syllabus revisions.
KPMG RGM & Co. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sharon G. Dayoan has reiterated their commitment towards upskilling the academe to help them produce industry-ready students that can become quality employees in the workforce, noting their long and fruitful partnership with the Sintang Paaralan.
Dayoan also stated that ݮƵstudents are very popular amongst employers for their talent, passion, and their strong will to succeed, with their organization employing more than 100 Iskolar ng Bayan graduates.
University President Dr. Manuel M. Muhi, in his message to KPMG RGM & Co., stated that the Sintang Paaralan is truly honored in this partnership and mentioned that this association addresses the need to improve PUP’s course programs, particularly in accountancy and finance to encourage career development amongst the students.
“This partnership answers the program of the University, extending the academe-industry connection. As much as possible, we want to fine tune and make some adjustments sa ating curriculum para maging industry-ready ang ating mga estudyante.” Muhi said.

CAF Dean Dr. Julieta G. Fonte expressed her deep gratitude for the successful MOU initiated by KPMG RGM & Co. while noting that this collaboration will bring positive benefits to both University to students and faculty “in several ways.”
“The Enhanced Academic Experience Scholarship grants, guest lectures, and faculty immersion programs will enrich students’ learning experiences and provide valuable insights into the industry. These collaborative efforts will enhance the university’s academic programs, support the development of students and faculty, and strengthen connections with industry.” Fonte said.
Also attending this event for PUP’s side were Department of Accountancy Chairperson Assoc. Prof. Noel A. Bergonia, Department of Management Accounting Chairperson Assoc. Prof. Marietta M. Doquenia, MBA, and Quality Assurance (QA) and On-The-Job Training (OJT) Coordinator Dr. Catherine D. Sotto and KPMG RGM & Co. were represented by Executive Director Enrico E. Baluyut, Director Joselle Anne Marie G. Sanchez, and Senior Office Eloissa Lazarte.
