The ݮƵ (PUP) and the PAMA Foundation Inc. officially solidified their partnership with a ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on February 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Dr. Zenaida A. Olonan Conference Room. The collaboration aims to provide crucial scholarship support to deserving but underprivileged students pursuing degrees in BS Management, Accounting, or Financial Management programs.
The scholarship program will provide P20,000 per academic year to selected scholars, covering monthly stipends for food and transportation, books, uniforms, supplies, projects, and thesis-related expenses. At least five students in their third or fourth year will be chosen based on their academic standing (i.e., a general weighted average of at least 2.25 and no failing grades), financial need (i.e., family income not exceeding P200,000 annually), and other qualifications.
The MOA signing was attended by key officials from both ݮƵand PAMA Foundation Inc., including Prof. Tomas O. Testor, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services; Engr. Ana Liza R. Publico, Director of the Office of Scholarship and Financial Assistance; Dr. Julieta G. Fonte, Dean of the College of Accountancy and Finance; Dr. Lolita Tang, President and Chairperson of the PAMA Foundation Inc., an alumnus of the university. Several board members also joined the ceremony.
“We are fortunate and put much effort into helping our students. I was thrilled, humbled, and thankful that you (PAMA Foundation, Inc.) were willing to assist our students. In addition to offering substantial chances and benefits to help them along the way, I hope you have grown even more and that your continued support of our effort aligns with one of our university’s strategic goals, ‘Student Holistic Development,’” VPSAS Testor shared.
Dr. Lolita Tang, Chairman and President of PAMA Foundation Inc., emphasized the importance of education as a long-lasting investment.
“Education is a necessity, particularly in these complicated times. It is also a very important stepping stone that helps open doors and support further and further achievement. That’s the reason why the PAMA Foundation Scholarship Program was created, to help scholars fulfill their dream of finishing their studies and become successful in their future.”
The Office of Scholarship and Financial Assistance, under the leadership of Engr. Ana Liza Publico highlighted the university’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 1, No Poverty. She stated that the partnership exemplifies PUP’s efforts “to assist students via financial assistance programs and initiatives aligned with the University Development Plan, Pillar 1, Teaching and Learning, which emphasizes holistic student development.”
Engr. Publico also acknowledged PAMA Foundation’s history of supporting community projects and expressed gratitude for their extension of support to ݮƵscholars. The Foundation also formally donated books to PUP, further benefiting students through the resources provided.
This partnership underscores a shared commitment to fostering the holistic development of ݮƵstudents. It reflects the foundation’s belief in the university’s mission to nurture excellence and service among its scholars, contributing to PUP’s vision of becoming a Leading Comprehensive Polytechnic University in Asia.
