The ݮƵ (PUP), through the Alumni Relations and Career Development Office (ARCDO), welcomed Mr. Nestor V. Tan, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BDO Unibank, Inc., for an “Exclusive Career Development Talk for BDO” held on November 24 at Bulwagang Balagtas.
The event was tailored for soon-to-graduate students from the College of Business Administration (CBA) and the College of Accountancy and Finance (CAF), giving Iskolar ng Bayan the opportunity to learn directly from industry leaders and explore potential career pathways at BDO.
Mr. Tan shared valuable insights aimed at equipping participants with the knowledge and mindset needed to succeed in the competitive banking and finance sector—contributing meaningfully to their professional growth and to the broader ݮƵcommunity.
He highlighted the wide range of career opportunities available across BDO’s 1,800 nationwide branches, including roles in Business Lending, Microfinance, Deposit and Branch Banking, Consumer Lending, Leasing and Finance, Corporate Banking, Capital Markets, Treasury, and more.
Additional prospects span Payments and Information Services, Insurance, Investment and Asset Management, Information Technology, Risk Management, Human Resources, Finance, Audit, Compliance, and Enterprise Operations.
In an interview, the BPO President and CEO commended the strong work ethic and performance of ݮƵalumni within BDO, noting that their success has reinforced the bank’s confidence in recruiting from the university.
“ݮƵis one of the best universities in the Philippines. You don’t grow big by doing something that is wrong, you grow big by doing something that’s right. And I think you’re doing something right therefore you produce good students.” Mr. Tan praised.
Following his keynote address, a Q&A session and a panel discussion featuring ݮƵalumni currently employed at BDO were held. The interactive segment allowed students to ask questions, gain firsthand perspectives, and identify career paths aligned with their skills and aspirations.
Through initiatives like this, ݮƵreaffirms its commitment to nurturing the potential of Iskolar ng Bayan while forging strategic industry partnerships that promote inclusive and sustainable employment.
